NOMINATIONS FROM CONGREGATION OF CANDIDATES FOR PASTOR:  The exciting time has come for members of Mt. Calvary to submit names of Pastors to be considered as a candidate for Pastor of Mt. Calvary.  Nomination forms are available in the narthex of the church, and in the church secr et ary's office.  Please include the full name of your candidate and his present place of ministry, and compl et e as much of the remainder of the form as you can.  Nominations will be accepted until Monday, March 15, 2010.  Please give the compl et ed form directly to an elder of the congregation.

The “CALLING A PASTOR” REPORT, compiled and prepared by Rev. Mike Newman, our Mission and Ministry Facilitator, has been compl et ed.  This Report is the result of input provided by the 68 members who compl et ed the “Profile” survey, information received by Rev. Newman during his visits to Mt. Calvary and during the three services he conducted here, and is the result of input provided during his me et ings with the Vision Committee.  Copies of the Report are posted for your review in the narthex of the church, in the Education Building , and in the church secr et ary’s office.  The first 5 pages are easy to understand summaries and are very important.  If you would like a copy of the first 5 pages, or the whole report, please request a copy from the church secr et ary.

TODAY!  MARCH 7 CONGREGATIONAL POTLUCK, Mt. Calvary will have a potluck dinner today in the Education Building immediately after Sunday School and Bible Classes.  This will be a time for fellowship and a time used to discuss and share questions and information about our Pastor search.  The Elders will host this Potluck, with assistance by members of the Mary Martha Guild.  Everyone is welcome at the Potluck.  You may bring a food dish to help with the Potluck, but you do not have to.  What we are encouraging is that you and your family attend.  Please join us and help make this Potluck an uplifting success as Mt. Calvary enters “into a season of new ministry vitality, serving people inside the congregation and throughout the community”.

CHRISTIAN LIFE: 1 Corinthians 10:1-13:  Paul reminded the Corinthians of the example of the Children of Israel who were often unfaithful to  God and His commands, and instead focused on the things of this life  It was poor stewardship on their part to neglect their relationship with God as their number one priority.  This was written ( St. Paul says) as a warning to us to put first things first.  Godly stewards do the right things for the right reasons.

LIFE QUOTES:  "I think it is vital that soci et y understands and appreciates the sanctity of every human life wh et her it is a developing child in the womb or somebody approaching the end of their life.  When I graduate and become a doctor I am hoping to be able to use my skills to help save lives.  I think abortion is never the answer and hope that one day, as a doctor, I will be able to help women to make the right decision."  Siobhan Fearon, 19, of Hull York Medical School .  This "Life Quote" is from Lutherans For Life – www.lutheransforlife.org.

GLOBAL LINK: – Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church and Preschool is linked to Hong Kong , where GEO missionary Andrea Bolognini serves.  She writes, “This month has been filled with Christmas activities!  One of the highlights was Lui Cheung Kwong Lutheran Primary School ’s first ever ‘Christmas English Extravaganza.’  It was an all-day English camp that the English teachers of Lui Cheung Kwong, my fellow missionaries, and I planned.  The day began when 40 third and fourth graders arrived at school during their Christmas vacation.  The students were divided into three groups: Jesus’ parents, shepherds, and wise men.  Then, the children spent time learning about their parts in the Christmas story, practicing skits that reenacted their roles, and performing the skits for their fellow classmates.  They also played games, did crafts, and decorated gingerbread cookies.  It was a way to teach about both American culture and the true meaning of Christmas.  The camp allowed me to connect with students who may know about Jesus but do not believe in Him.  It also provided an opportunity to share the message with the students’ parents.  Many parents want their children to have a good education so they send them to Christian schools, even if they are not believers.  The camp made the students eager to share what they did all day with their parents which meant sharing about the Christmas story!  The students are a blessing from God because they can reach their non-English speaking parents in ways that I cannot.”

THERE IS MORE TO YOUR LIFE THAN YOU EVER THOUGHT.   THERE IS MORE TO YOUR STORY THAN WHAT YOU HAVE READ.
