NOMINATIONS
FROM CONGREGATION OF CANDIDATES FOR PASTOR:
The exciting time has come for members of
Mt.
Calvary
to submit names of Pastors to be considered as a candidate for Pastor of Mt.
Calvary. Nomination forms are
available in the narthex of the church, and in the church secretary's office. Please include the
full name of your candidate and his present place of ministry, and complete as much of the remainder of the form as you can.
Nominations will be accepted until Monday, March 15, 2010.
Please give the completed form directly to an elder of the congregation.
The
“CALLING A PASTOR” REPORT,
compiled and prepared by Rev. Mike Newman, our
Mission
and Ministry Facilitator, has been completed. This Report is the result of
input provided by the 68 members who completed the “Profile” survey, information received by Rev. Newman during his
visits to
Mt.
Calvary
and during the three services he conducted here, and is the result of input
provided during his meetings with the Vision Committee. Copies
of the Report are posted for your review in the narthex of the church, in the
Education
Building
, and in the church secretary’s office. The first 5 pages
are easy to understand summaries and are very important.
If you would like a copy of the first 5 pages, or the whole report,
please request a copy from the church secretary.
If
anyone is interested in signing up to provide altar flowers, there are available
opportunities. SIGN
UP ON THE FLOWER CALENDAR in the church narthex or contact the Church
office.
It’s
time to order your EASTER LILIES to
help beautify the Church sanctuary on Easter morning.
Lilies are $15 a piece. Completed
forms can be placed in a designated envelope and placed in the offering plate or
dropped by the church office before March 28th.
The
Church is experiencing a slight depletion of SUNDAY MORNING GREETERS.
If you are interested in being a greeter for the Church on Sunday mornings, please contact the Church office, or
Joan Miertschin
.
Our
MIDWEEK LENTEN SERVICES, under the
overall theme of “The Lamb and The Blessed” will continue for the rest of
the Wednesdays in Lent at 11:00 a.m. We
invite the participation of all, and especially of those who often find it
difficult to worship with us on Sunday morning.
Please do join us on Wednesdays, so that these services may be a special
time of meditation and preparation for our joyous celebration of Easter.
There
will be NO LENTEN LUNCHEON in the
Education
Building
after the Wednesday morning service.
MANY
THANKS!!
A Heartfelt "Thank You" to everyone who helped, brought food or

LUTHERAN
WORLD RELIEF – DEDICATION OF QUILTS: Today,
Pastor Anderson will lead the congregation in a special dedication of the quilts
made by the “Happy Scrappers”, for service in the kingdom of the Lord.
The Scrappers are Lorine Fischer, Karen Fitch, Jeanette Huelsebusch,
Donna Kappler, Elsie Michalk, Ethlyn Michalk, Frieda Lehmann, Evelyn Roitsch,
Artie Schultz, Gladys Teinert, Lorene Tietjen and Helen Whitley.
A Lutheran World Relief quilt is special!
It brings warmth on a cold night, shelter from the sun on a hot day.
It becomes a bed, a room divider, a backpack to carry belongings; at
times, a home.
SILENT
QUILT AUCTION
Four special quilts are on display to be sold to the highest bidder.
Each quilt is approximately 60 inches wide and 80 inches long.
Funds raised from this silent auction will be used to purchase supplies
for future quilting projects and support Project Comfort to cover shipping costs
of LWR supplies.
UPDATE
FROM DIANA:
Hello to all my wonderful praying friends at
Mt.
Calvary
. I spent a week in
Houston
being tested by MD Anderson for the bone marrow transplant followed by a week
going back and forth to
Austin
for my third round of chemo. I'm so
relieved to not be on the road again for awhile.
I have three weeks of chill time before any more appointments and that is
a big relief to me. The testing at
MDA seemed to go well and my brother and three children will be tested as
possible donor matches. If one of
them matches, then we will be able to go ahead with the transplant.
If they are not a match, then MDA will start searching the donor bank.
That process could take up to two months or longer.
Chemo, in
Austin
, will continue until the donor is found. After
the transplant, I will be staying in an apartment in
Houston
for 90 days before I can return home. My
daughter Kim, who was living in
Virginia
, has moved in with us and will be one of my caregivers during this process.
Gibbs will be my other one. MDA
requires that someone be with me 24/7 from the time of the transplant until I
return home. The plan is for them to
rotate out with one staying in
Houston
with me for a week, and the other one here at the farm chilling out and taking
care of the animals and whatever needs to be done here.
This is going to be a long hard road for all three of us and I wanted to
make sure it did not become too stressful on either one of them.
A big thank you to each and every one of you for your prayers, cards,
emails and most of all for your treasured friendship.
I truly miss being there at the church and miss just being able to see
and visit everyone. My immune
system, or lack of one, keeps me homebound.
Blessing and love to all!

CHRISTIAN
LIFE:
2 Corinthians 5:16-21: If anyone is
in Christ he [she] is a new creation. In
Christ we are forgiven for all our failures and equipped to live as new
creations who manage all of life and life’s resources for God’s purposes.
Whether we are managing our time, abilities or money we are to live in a
way that honors God and blesses others.
LIFE
QUOTES:
“Either
all human life- from unborn children to demented mothers and fathers – is
created… and therefore infinitely precious, or humans are nothing but the
result of mere chance, indistinguishable morally from a sand flea.
The choice society makes will determine whether the most vulnerable among
us will be respected and protected… or whether we will ‘put them down’
when they become a burden.” Chuck
Colson, author and founder of Prison Fellowship.

"Life Quote" is from Lutherans For Life – www.lutheransforlife.org

Mt.
Calvary
Lutheran
Church
and Preschool is
linked to
Cambodia
, where Rev. Fungchatou and Kalia Lo serve as missionaries.
They write, “Upon returning to
Phnom Penh
, Fungchatou and Jesse, a national co-worker, went to Ratanakiri to start
another theological training program with the Khmer and Jarai church leaders.
Nineteen participants attended this first training session.
More people wanted to attend the program, but because of limited funding,
we could not accept everyone. Fungchatou
and Jesse also visited the Jarai people at their villages with Rev. Chhim
Vanarith, chairman of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cambodia. The Jarai are
ethnic minority living in the Ratanakiri province.
They are substance farmers and many of them are Christians, but no
well-trained pastors are available to minister to them.
Their coming to attend our theological training program will help them to
be knowledgeable about their Christian faith and able to minister to their own
people with the truth. They also
needed a lot of help with nutrition and health care.
Many children were sick and needed medical attentions, which could have
been prevented if they learn about personal hygiene.
Our Concordia Welfare and Education Foundation—
Cambodia
(C WEF) staff will be visiting and providing community health education to the
Jarai people.”
