Christian Preschool

Mt. Calvary Lutheran Preschool

  • is a part of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, Texas District.

  • provides a rich Christian environment for living, thinking and learning.

  • was founded in 1981 for the purpose of reaching out to people with a Christ - centered education. For this reason, the congregation opens the Preschool and other agencies of the Church to all who desire such training in faith and Christian living.

PREAMBLE

Mt. Calvary Lutheran Early Childhood Education Center is a loving, caring body of believers devoted to Christ, His Church, His teachings, and His ministry.

"Let the Little Children come to me, and do not hinder them for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these."                      Mark 10:14

To provide Christian Ministries that lead children and families into a personal relationship with Christ and service to others in His name.

CRITICAL TARGETS

"Spiritual Growth" Children and Families are provided opportunities to hear the word of God through daily Bible stories and special Christian programs for the families.

"Family Ministry" Families building primary relationships around the principles of God’s Word and supporting family values through School Activities.

"Outreach" Teachers helping to share Christ and leading families into a personal relationship with their Lord.

MT. CALVARY PRESCHOOL PROGRAM

It is the philosophy of this preschool that early childhood should be a time of fun, warmth, security, exploring, and discovery. Preschool children are creative and receptive; the program strives to nurture and encourage these qualities in its students.

Planned within the framework of our philosophy and purpose, the curriculum includes sharing and conversation time; stories, songs and fingerplays; creative art activities and crafts; games and large muscle activities; field trips throughout the community; cooking; science and nature activities; exposure to shapes, colors, numbers, and letters; and celebration of birthdays, holidays and Jesus Time.

Through our educational program, your child will be provided with a rich Christian environment for living, thinking and learning. This will allow your child to experience success at the present, and upon which future success can be built. By these activities and experiences, we meet your child's spiritual, mental, physical, social and emotional needs in helping to develop basic concepts, skills, abilities, attitudes, and knowledge.

CALENDAR YEAR

We are open August through May. We follow the La Grange ISD school calendar. The Preschool observes their holiday schedule and days off. We take off two extra days for the TEXAS DISTRICT LCMS EARLY CHILDHOOD CONFERENCE

We also have a SUMMER PROGRAM that runs from June-August when school starts. Summer program is contingent upon enrollment numbers.

CLASS HOURS

Class hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for our Half Day program, and 8:00 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. for our full day program. All children may arrive as early as 7:30 a.m. We ask that everyone arrive by 8:30 a.m. so that our day can start.

CHAPEL

Chapel is held every Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. in Mt. Calvary’s church. Pastor Bragdon has a children’s sermon and they sing a song. Parents are always invited to attend this short time of worship.

FIELD TRIPS

The classes will take field trips to various places during the year. You will be sent a note home to fill out and return to your child’s teacher giving permission for your child to go on that activity. We may at times need drivers to help with transporting our children to the various activities.

PARENT BOARD MEMBERS

Each school year the Director of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Preschool will appoint two parents of the preschool to sit on the Mt. Calvary Lutheran School Board for one year as advisors for the preschool in behalf of the parents of the preschool.

FUNDRAISERS

Mt. Calvary Preschool has a fundraiser in the Spring that is matched by AAL/LB, and one in Fall. Our fundraisers help to support our program in providing materials and equipment for the school. It also provides for special activities for the families and training opportunities for the staff.
