We hope you enjoy this archive of photos taken during the various Preschool events of 2010!

May Magic
Jan Jenkins, representing the Fayette County Texas Retired Teachers, and Mt. Calvary Lutheran Preschool  presented Mrs. Deb's and Mrs. Becky's classes  with books designed to jumpstart a love for reading.
At their May 18 meeting, the  Texas Women's League presented Janice Teinert, Preschool Director, with a check for $2,250.00 to be used for computers for the students at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Preschool.
Over 200 people attended worship service in beautiful weather.  Pre- and post-service music was provided by the Seale Sisters from Winchester.  In addition, Mt. Calvary preschool students, after-school students, and the Sunday School sang HOW WE LIVE AS CHRISTIANS and had a fun-filled day at the church picnic.  The barbeque and auction were a huge success!   We hope to see YOU there next year!

In preparation of the younger students being able to assist during chapel next year, Hunter Sabo and John Kaspar led the students in the recitation of the Lord's Prayer. Conner Price and Peyton James then volunteered to lead the classes in the Pledge to the Christian flag. It has been the practice of allowing the older students to participate in each week's chapel, so since this was the final chapel for the regular school year the younger students "stepped up" to take on this leadership role.
Mrs. Becky's Butterflies planted grass and watched the "grassheads" grow as they learned about planting seeds. Mrs. Supak brought her high school students to observe the preschool as they learned about foods and nutrition and possible careers in the preschool/daycare field.
Graduation

Nineteen students will be honored on Friday, May 21 as they make plans to leave Mt. Calvary Lutheran Preschool and go to kindergarten this fall. Mark your calendars to join us at 11:00 AM in the church as we have our closing ceremony. Parents and children will then be invited to a light lunch in the preschool building at 11:30.

April Action
P is for ....
Learning is fun at Mt. Calvary Preschool. What better way to learn about the letter P than to play with pig noses in pudding! Or, was it more fun to paint the sidewalk? The creative teachers are always coming up with new ways to make learning fun.
On Sunday, April 25, Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church and Preschool, La Grange,  recognized Carolyn Mersiovsky on her seventeen years of dedication to the preschool. Mrs. Mersiovsky is shown receiving a plaque from Janice Teinert, Preschool Director, as she is honored on her retirement . A fellowship in her honor was held after the church service.
On April 12 Camryn Alvarado, daughter of Dawn Sedlar and Chris Alvarado, was baptized during the preschool chapel.
Her preschool classmates and friends and relatives witnessed the special occasion for Camryn.
Check out our new Fire Alarm System. Linda Templin  and other staff members were  trained in how to operate the new system.
Science class is so much fun, especially when Mrs. Carolyn brings the baby chicks that the children watched hatch before Easter.
MARCH MARVELS
Mt. Calvary Lutheran Preschool had a full day on Friday, March 26.  At 9:00 the students had chapel; at 9:30, there was an Easter egg hunt; Teaspoon, Madeline Willrich's grandparents' donkey, came to visit; and then there were the class parties.  What a wonderful way to celebrate Jesus' love for us!

DPS Trooper Jerry Harris visited the three and four-year-old classes on March 22 to discuss when to call 911, Stranger Danger, and to reinforce that police officers are our friends. The students were then allowed to sit in the patrol car as they learned about the different instruments in the vehicle.

To celebrate Lutheran Schools Weeks, Mt. Calvary Lutheran Preschool set off balloons with Bible verses inside to tell others that Jesus loves them.

Volunteers Brandy Gross, Jon Lehmann, and Chris Westall helped inflate the balloons donated by Betsy Chovanec.
After the balloon send off, Mrs. Becky's and Mrs. Linda's class sent  bubbles
in search of the balloons.

The Tooth Fairy from  the office of Dr. Bill Reeves, an orthodontist from Brenham, Texas, came to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Preschool on March 3. The tooth fairy and her helper explained how to take proper care of our teeth and the consequences of not doing so. Each student was then given a dental hygiene goodie bag. The tooth fairy had a heart-to-heart talk with the students as they learned about taking proper care of their teeth.
Mrs. Deb's and Mrs. Becky's classes made green eggs and ham to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday. The green eggs look good to Anthony and Drew.

FEBRUARY FUN!

Learning is fun!

Batting balloons and having a balloon race was a good way to learn about the letter B and the sound of the letter B. Learning is so much fun at Mt. Calvary!
Science class was a fun and  learning experience as the students listened to  their own hearts and then saw a pig's heart.

You just never know what Mrs. Carolyn will have planned for her students!

On Tuesday, Feb. 23 the meteorologists were right....it snowed in La Grange!   We went out to play in the snow for a few minutes and enjoyed the beauty of God's work.   What fun!

The Fayette Public Library hosted a program for parents and teachers at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Preschool on Feb. 11.

The purpose of the program was to encourage reading to infants and preschool age children.

The program, Ready to Read, was well attended by parents and preschool staff.
Even on cool days the students can enjoy the new playground equipment.

JANUARY  HAPPENINGS

The cold, wet weather does not keep Mt. Calvary Lutheran Preschool students from having fun. What better way to learn about the letter "M" than to jump in the Moonwalk!
The after-school students performed a play about snowflakes for everyone on January 4. Mrs. Lori's and Mrs. Jennifer's classes enjoyed eating lime and lemon lollipops to learn about the letter "L".
Winter weather books were the chosen ones for a cold, winter day in Mrs. Becky Leer's class.
Thanks to Wendy and Kenny Kruse for donating the indoor basketball goals so that the preschool and after-school students can have fun these cold, winter days.
